Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Vancouver Jade' is a variety of Kinnickinnick introduced by the University of British Columbia Botanical Gardens selected for it's disease resistance. It is an evergreen groundcover and the species is native to Oregon. In the spring it blooms with pink urn-shaped (ericaceous) flowers, The red berries are long lasting and carry into winter which provide food for wildlife. It is drought tolerant, low maintenance and adaptable to many soils provided it has good drainage. It is a great choice for draping over walls or parking strips where you do not want to irrigate.
